Camp 2018!

Camp Thank You Letter

This is my thank you letter to one of the parents that came on camp.

20 November 2018

Dear Kent

Thank you for taking me on camp, I really enjoyed it! I had no clue you were my secret buddy.
I liked the s’mores and finding Brian. Thank you so much.

What was your favourite activity? My favourite was tug of war and I also liked
throwing the Frisbee around.
I really didn't like soccer and I didn't like being away from home for so long. I got really home sick but I got better.

Thank you for cooking food for us and helping me with things.
I also enjoyed the Squawk Squad Activity.

Ngā mihi
Yours sincerely
Rhys       😛🍦

The mystery of the abandoned city

When I was on a tour of an abandoned city it really creeped me out
It was run down and broke. Also, it reminds me of a prison that was attacked. And it had this ghostly looking vibe to it and very
very quiet. As the golden sun struck the buildings it didn't
look that ghostly looking. It looked like as peaceful as the summer
breeze. And as the sound of birds cheeping filled my ears. The city
didn't look abandoned it looked like it was full of life and peace.
And the trees calming the breeze. And the trees taking over the city.

and perform a play. This is using our oral language and reading
skills in literacy. Our key competency focus is participating and contributing.

For writing your task is to summarise the main events in your play
in three paragraphs. You must plan your writing first but it is up to
you how you do your planning.  You must also write a fourth paragraph
about your experience of practising and performing your play.

Yr 6
I am learning to organise my text into paragraphs which begin with

I am learning to make links across paragraphs.
I am learning to use basic punctuation accurately.
I am learning to use dialogue punctuation accurately.

Once you have finished your writing highlight these success criteria
green you have met them and can show them in your work.

Once upon a time there was a boy called jack and His mother that
were very poor.
One day jack’s mum told jack to sell their cow daisy.

on the way to the market jack saw a salesman.
the salesman came towards jack.
he asked jack if he was selling the cow.
jack told the salesman the cow was for sale.
the salesman gave jack something more
valuable than money :magic beans. jack t
hanked the salesman and took the magic beans and
went home and told his mum what he did.

his mum was very angry with jack. she took the beans
from jack and threw them out the window.
in the night the beanstalk grew bigger. and in the
morning jack’s mum comes in his room yelling,
“JACK JACK” there's a giant beanstalk.
jack climbed the stalk and saw a giant castle and also
heard a giant’s footsteps. The giant had a gold goose
that laid the giant gold eggs. So jack stole the goose
and climbed down the stalk with the giant gaining on him.

Jack reached the bottom of the stalk. Jack took an axe
and chopped down the stalk. and the giant died and jack
and also his mum were very rich. They lived happily ever after!
The end.

My team and i worked well together and
everyone participated and contributed.
We need to improve on props and the acting went
well.

Changes in space

There have been many changes in ideas about space

Our ideas about our solar system have changed over time.
People used to think we were the center of the universe.
But some scientists figured out we weren't the center of the universe.
Galileo proved we weren’t the center of the universe. Also Galileo built the first
astronomical telescope which he could use to study our solar system. He showed us we move around
the sun. We now know all the planets move around the sun.

Term 2 Weeks 5-6

Purpose of this reading activity is to: increase our knowledge of space exploration and understand how our knowledge and ideas about space have changed over time (science). We are also learning to read non-fiction texts and use our writing skills to share our understanding of this topic and our ideas (literacy). Throughout this task we will need to use the skills of ‘Thinking’ and using ‘Language, Symbols and Text.’

Learning Intentions
I am learning to skim and scan text to identify the main ideas.
I am learning to locate the key sentences and questions in texts.
